Central Public Library

The project concept was an interesting response to the context of the site. Free forms inspired by the constructivism principles are totally not conventional for typical public libraries. The context comprises the most important modern symbols of architecture in Yemen, such as Saleh Mosque (it is the fourth biggest mosques in the Middle East), and the Central Security forces camp with a strong form and design building. The concept was based on a metaphorical refraction of light coming from the historical and symbolic context. The prism pyramid was situated on the corner of the site to resemble the principle of physics (the refraction of white light when it goes through a prism pyramid and converging to 7 spectrum colors) to sculpt and mold the forms and masses of the project as if they were rays of light coming out of the prism pyramid.
